Bipsha Basu was born on may 5, 1979 in New Delhi, India. She was a supermodel and is now acting in Bollywood films, India. Bipasha won the Ford Super Model of the World contest in 1996 when she was seventeen years old. She was also awarded Tulips Miss Super Vivacious in the same contest.

Bipasha is the second daughter to her parents. She has two sisters, the elder’s name is Bidisha and the younger’s name is Bijoyeta. She was born in New Delhi and after that their family shifted to Kolkatta and she now lives in Mumbai. She wanted to study medicine and later changed it to Chartered Accountancy. According to her her modelling and film career all happened by accident. She was a successful model for a long time before she got opportunities to work in the movie Industry. Among the model-turned actresses Bipasha is the most successful actress.

Bipasha entered into the Bollywood film industry in 2007 with the film Ajnabee. That film was a  success and it brought her a lot of good projects. After the success of her films Raaz and Jism she was marked as a sex symbol in the industry. In “No Entry” she played a good role and that film was a success. In 2006 she acted in “Phir Hera Pheri” and that film was also good. Later she acted in the female-lead film “coporate” and got good response all over. Her recent release Dhoom-2, in which she acted as a cop was a huge hit in both India and overseas. Bipasha has so far acted in around 31 films.

The word Bipasha gives the meaning “deep dark desire”. Bipasha’s close friends call her Bips. Bipasha was one of the judges of Femina Miss India contest in the year 2004.  According to a poll on rediff.com she was given seventh position of “Top Bollywood Actresses of 2006″. And She was ranked 2 by UK magazine Eastern Eye on the survey “Asia’s Sexiest Women”. Apart from doing countless ads, she also did the famous Sonu Nigam’s video “Tu…” for the album Kismat. The rumour is that Bipasha is getting close to Vivek Oberoi, who she acted in the film with. And Bipasha and Abhisekh Bachchan are very close friends.
